The Book Stack
For years now a favorite habit/ritual of mine has been the sharing of photos of book stacks.
What I do is round up the books stashed in my backpack, cluttering end tables, and piled on the floor near a chair, and then stage them for a photo.
These are typically books I plan to read in the next season, although typically at least one or two are half read (ish).
Sometimes I’ll tuck a little Easter egg into the photo, something geeky related to games, etc.
The stack I’ve posted at the top of this blog is an example. If you peruse the stack you’ll get a sense of what I’m working on at present. Often I like to present the stack as a simple puzzle for other book-lovers, to see what they notice.
I’ll be a little more forthright this time: I’m embarking on a significant research and writing project on privacy and theology, so about half the books in this stack are related to this.
The Priya Parker I’m considering as a read for our church council.
All We Can Save I’m considering for an all congregation read.
The Dragonlance novel is a bit of nostalgia from the days of my youth. New installments in a series that first brought me into the D&D universe.
The Brandon Sanderson is one of the volumes that he secretly wrote during the pandemic and then sold in the largest Kickstarter ever.
And that book on overload boredom: let’s just say I’m feeling that one deep in my soul.
I didn’t read quite as much this summer as typical. It was a very busy summer of travel. I’m also finding like many of us that I’ve allowed digital media to change my brain so slowing down for long reading sessions is difficult. My brain balks, gets distracted, panics.
I’d love to hear/see what others are reading right now. Make a stack
