So this is Substack. It’s a relatively young blogging platform and I’m shifting to it as a writer for a few reasons:
It’s super clean and spare, and therefore easy to read and easy to write in.
You don’t have to look at a bunch of advertisements.
In addition to being quite easy to blog in, it doubles as an e-mail subscription service, so you get an e-mail in your inbox when something new posts.
It has a podcast feature. Although I haven’t started podcasting yet, I think I will start in the next month or so.
So what’s up with the free vs. paid subscriptions?
I added my whole congregation with lifetime “paid” subscriptions which means you’ll get any and all content, and if you don’t want it you can just unsubscribe.
Most content is free to read.
That being said, I’ve had a few folks sign up as paid subscribers, which is cool. It’s kind of like a tip jar for stuff you like. You can do a monthly support like a subscription, or annual or lifetime support. But that’s not primarily why I’m here doing this, so just enjoy, and tip if you’re inspired to do so.
I write about religious topics frequently because it’s my job and my passion, but the goal on this blog will be to expand the scope and also do some stuff around culture (like films and television) and more generally just topics of interest. And since you can comment on posts, I welcome input from readers.
Thanks again for being here and reading this. You’re awesome.
